Comparison of Central Cleaning Systems with local and central chemical supply.

Cleaning System - application.

The main goal of the Central Cleaning System (CCS) is to carry out the cleaning and disinfection process of production halls in food industry plants. There are many different configurations of CCS, but the two most popular solutions are.

Cleaning System with Local Chemical Supply.

Central Cleaning System with Local Chemical Supply

The first of them is CCS with local chemical supply, which is a standard system consisting of a pump raising the pressure of the rinsing water, connected by piping to SR 25 satellite stations located in different parts of the plant.

The satellite stations are additionally connected to the plant's compressed air system.

Chemicals used for the cleaning and disinfection process are located in canisters placed under the satellite station. Working concentrations at each satellite are set individually.

On the other hand, CCS with central chemistry are complex solutions consisting of many additional components.

In their case, a water pressure raising pump and satellite stations are also used. However, the chemical delivery system to the satellite is completely different. In this solution, a ready-to-use working solution is delivered to the SR 25 cleaning point using a special, additional pump and a piping system. Depending on the type of satellite station, one to five chemical agents can be delivered. For each chemical agent (working solution), a separate pipe is designated.

INFO – Selected models of SR 25 CC satellite stations also have the possibility of connecting local chemistry, this solution aims to enable periodic cleaning and disinfection processes specified in the cleaning book, which due to low frequency do not require integration with central chemistry. In this case, the concentration of this one agent is set at the satellite.

It is essential in systems with central chemistry that the concentration of the solution is predetermined in the pumping room, and the employee carrying out the cleaning and disinfection process cannot change it.

The heart of the Central Chemistry system is usually located in a specially designated room, and its components include a pump or pump set that raises the pressure of hot water to about 20 bars for rinsing, and an additional so-called “Chemical Pump” that raises the pressure of cold water to about 6 bars. The chemical agent is injected into this pipe with cold water using dosing pumps, in a precisely determined amount. In this way, a working solution for foaming and disinfection is created, which is sent to all SR 25 satellites. There, after opening the appropriate valves and adding compressed air, a ready-to-use foam with an exact concentration is produced.

Due to the designated location and specificity of the system, chemical agents are usually stored in pallet containers or barrels, which in combination with low-level chemical sensors minimize the risk of running out of the agent during the cleaning and disinfection process.

The entire Central Chemistry System is usually fully measured, allowing for monitoring the consumption of chemical agents and the correctness of the cleaning and disinfection process. The sampling point is located in the pumping room, and the concentration of the working solution is checked there. Thus, the entire piping installation contains a solution with the same concentration.

The Central Cleaning System with Centralized Chemistry is certainly a much more advanced and complex solution than local chemistry, especially recommended for large facilities where the consumption of chemical agents is at a very high level, and all cleaning and disinfection processes are carried out by a large team at a significant number of stations.

Particularly worth emphasizing is the fact of programming concentrations from the top and delivering a ready-to-use working solution with constant parameters to the satellite. This is important because the concentration of the chemical agent in local chemistry changes with the change in water pressure in the Central Cleaning System (CCS). In the case of operating a larger number of stations, the pressure is lower, and the concentration of the working solution increases. When several stations are operating, the pressure increases, and the working concentration of the chemical agent decreases.

This problem is eliminated in Central Cleaning Systems with Centralized Chemistry in the LCD version with automatic dosing and measurement of the concentration of the prepared solution. In this case, the concentration measurement is carried out continuously, and in case of deviation from the set value, it is corrected. The obtained values ??of the chemical solution concentration are stored in the internal memory of the LCD controller.

INFO: The correlation of concentration change with water pressure occurs in all types of stations, both those with injector dosing and those with automatic dosing. Therefore, it is essential to maintain ongoing supervision over the correctness of the set parameters.

Additionally, this fact eliminates the possibility of manipulating the concentration of chemical agents by the cleaning team members, which may result in savings in their consumption.

Equally important may be the full measurement of parameters, which, combined with the possibility of remote supervision, allows ongoing control by the company's management at any time and place.

Of course, measurement and supervision can also be implemented in local chemistry, but it cannot cover the control of concentrations.

Benefits of using the Central Chemical Dosing System with LCD control.

      I.        SAFETY ASPECT

  1. No employee contact with concentrated chemicals
  2. Only a chemical solution with a specified low concentration is present in the production halls.
  3. Employees do not carry heavy chemical containers, eliminating the risk of spilling concentrate, splashing themselves, falling, or other accidents.
  4. Chemical storage is closed, no access for unauthorized persons.

     II.        QUALITY CONTROL ASPECT

  1. Quality Control oversees and determines the concentration levels used by all employees.
  2. If there is a need to increase the concentration, it is carried out from a single point by changing the settings of the dosing pump.
  3. Changes in dosing pump settings are made exclusively by authorized personnel, as access codes are used.
  4. As an online automatic concentration measurement system for the chemical solution dosed into pipes is applied, the correct concentration of chemicals is present at every foaming point.
  5. No situations where an employee runs out of chemicals and cannot finish foaming.
  6. No situations where an employee uses too high a concentration or concentrate.
  7. No concentrate = no risk of machine damage (corrosion) or floor damage.

   III.        CHEMICAL CONSUMPTION CONTROL ASPECT

  1. Monitoring of chemical consumption in real-time, even on an hourly basis.
  2. Possibility to present data in the form of summary tables or charts, e.g., consumption of individual chemicals, changes in solution concentrations over time, list of alarms or warnings.
  3. Remote access to the dosing system by any authorized computer in the facility or remotely via GSM.

   IV.        ECONOMIC ASPECT

  1. Lack of access to the concentrate prevents the removal of chemicals from the facility.
  2. Prices for chemicals in large packages (1000 kg) are usually lower than in small containers, generating savings in chemical purchasing costs.
